Regarding the letter.

Apreciados Compañeros Covelianos,

 As per my previous  mail sent to all of you at the beginning of the month, the SIS Board of Advisers met on Thursday 12/10 with Dr. Eibeck and had an excellent chat regarding her vision as President of Pacific and, also, about her posture related to International Studies.  Much to my satisfaction, I found her to be extremely nice, intelligent, focused and very clear in regards to Pacific’s needs for the continuation of programs intended to attract international students. This, to us, is great news in light of the fact that SIS is making the effort to reinstate the Interamerican Studies Program based on the best of our Covell College experience.

Prior to the Board meeting, Covelianos, were able to, personally, deliver the letter that we had prepared for her during our Cruise to Bahamas, together with another letter that our dearest Dr. Robinson had personally prepared for her. Therefore, Dr. Eibeck was duly updated on our position regarding our desire for the full reinsertion of the Interamerican Studies Program at Pacific in the way how we lived it. This, of course, with the improvements needed to make it fit and succeed in these modern times and ages. We also stated to her our commitment to support it in all our regions of Latin America and the United States, and help Pacific in recruiting and fund raising activities. After all, we all love this program and do believe that, given a full opportunity, it would prove to be of tremendous success.

Both letters to Dr. Eibeck are posted in the website. So we can all read them there. Comments and critics, as per Craig’s (our Webmaster) indications, should be done in the webpage in the Forum section. This way, Covelianos who do not want to receive excessive amounts of mails will not be bothered at all. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to, very sincerely, thank you all who contributed with this initiative which I thought necessary to present at the highest level of the university, at a time when new policies, priorities and directions are being considered for the next few year. Again, I sincerely appreciate the help of all t hose who wrote to me and gave me ideas, plus to all of us who devoted some hours drafting the letter in the cruise. Special thanks to you: Mark, Cecilia, Nancy, Hilda, John, Luis, Joe, Gene and Beverley for the time devoted to maintaining the Coveliano spirit fully alive. Also, special thanks to Dr. Robinson for his thoughts and efforts put together in that excellent letter for Dr. Eibeck, which  he personally prepared and delivered at Pacific in support of the Interamerican Studies Program. Also, thank you to Haydee, Danna, Craig and others who, as always, are there to help in all covelianos matters. God bless you all!
